New Teacher: Josh Rawlings - Jazz Piano
Pianist and Composer Josh Rawlings is a renaissance jazz pianist that exhibits awesome ability on his instrument and ease playing genre-to-genre – setting-to-setting. Since moving to Seattle, Rawlings has seen wide successes as a performer and musician, and has been featured on the Northwest’ most prestigious stages. Josh graduated from Seattle’s renowned Cornish College of the Arts in 2005, and has twice since been honored by Earshot! Magazine’s Golden Ear Award Nominations. Having studied and performed with renowned groups & musicians, Denney Goodhew and the Qhromatics, Randy Halberstadt, Jovino Santos Neto and Hadley Caliman while at Cornish, Josh developed a voice that was literally bursting out of his school doors. He’s recently played sold out performances at Jazz Alley, Triple Door and many major Seattle festivals from Pike Place Market to the Bite of Seattle. Josh also performed on the main stage of the 2008 Bumbershoot Festival. Whether headlining or supporting on stage, Josh has a unique ability to merge with his fellow artists, while anticipating, supporting and energizing his band mates to put on premier performances.


Benefit to raise money for Lakeridge's Clavinova
Benefit Recital to raise funds for the purchase of a Yamaha Clavinova Keyboard for Lakeridge Elementary Friday, April 30th 7:00 pm Lakeridge Elementary Multi-Purpose Room We have an exciting opportunity to support the purchase of a Yamaha Clavinova Keyboard for Lakeridge Elementary! This is the state-of-the-art keyboard that was featured in this year’s 5th Grade Operetta. With the help of local piano teacher, Connie Wible, a Benefit Concert will be held on Friday, April 30th at 7:00 pm in the Lakeridge Elementary Multi-Purpose Room. Performers include local young musicians from the middle and high school. Supporters can help with donations at the Benefit Concert or by purchasing one of the 88 keys. Please attend this great evening of local talent! Lakeridge students that are interested in being a performer at the Benefit Concert should turn in the following sign-up form to Mrs. Carey, music specialist.


Musical Gift Recital - Aljoya - Mercer Island
Lake Washington Music Teachers Association is hosting a Musical Gift Recital for the residents of Aljoya Center on Mercer island. May 16, 3:00. Students, you are invited to play. We will announce during your lessons.


Katrina Kope - TV Star!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
What a great 2009 we had at the studio. We found new friends with Classic Pianos in Bellevue, had successful summer camps, had a Halloween Recital, and Holiday Open House/Recitals complete with cookie decorating and games. Katrina was married on August 15th and has a new name - Katrina Kope. Ishani Deo is student teaching and we are having fun creating music, teaching, and planning new great projects. This year, look for the Musical Mind Piano Studio on Facebook, 2010 MI Music Technology Camp, and more opportunities to perform. Be sure to check back as more cool developments happen. It is going to be a great year!


Katrina Wible Kope - Singer/Songwriter, Piano, Garage Band
Katrina is Singer/Songwriter and Beginning -Intermediate Piano Teacher. She is a graduate of Cornish School of the Arts and a regular performer at the Sorrento Hotel, Triple Door Music Aquarium, Tractor Tavern, Argosy Jazz Cruise and the Bite of Seattle. She sings with The Katrina Wible Jazz Trio, www.myspace.com/katrinawible and Soul Kata, a jazz, blues and fusion band, www.soulkata.com, along with Leisure Sound, a Northwest Reggae Band. She is available for private parties and weddings as well.


2010 MI Music Technology Summer Camp
Session 1:June 21-25 Session 2:August 2-6 Session 3: August 9-13 Susan Hamp, music specialist at Island Park Elementary, and Connie Wible, independent M.I. piano teacher and composer, are proud to offer their 6th Annual Music Technology Camp! This exciting and musically stimulating camp is for beginning, intermediate, and advanced musicians. We will be using Yamaha Digital Pianos for this camp as well as Garage Band and Sibelius Notation Software. During this camp, students will be able to: Learn to write, orchestrate, record, and perform your own creative pieces or play and orchestrate a popular song. Play in a piano ensemble – even beginners! Use music software for recording, games, and theory including Garage Band. Learn to burn a CD of our original music. Take home a CD of our campers’ great original and popular songs! Make a musical piece of art for home. Perform at the end-of-camp concert on Friday to “wow” parents & friends with your awesome music! All snacks are provided. Yum!
